The Birth of Tulip: A Story of Passion, Tears, and Triumph.

Tulip Elastics Private Limited was started by my father, Shri Krishan Kumar Mittal, in 1989 with just six machines of narrow woven fabric in Noida. A true entrepreneur, he came from Yamuna Nagar without any formal degree or knowledge of textiles. Initially involved in various trades like spices, wood, paddy rice, and eventually brick kiln manufacturing, his life took a dramatic turn after a moment of reflection.

One day, someone told him that in brick kiln manufacturing, countless insects and small creatures are burned alive—creatures we can’t even see with the naked eye. This thought shook him deeply. He decided then and there to stop the brick business. That’s the kind of man my father is.

With no prior experience and only a burning desire to do something meaningful, he moved to Noida and started a factory in 1987, in what was then a jungle-like area. He worked relentlessly—sleeping on wet mattresses without an air conditioner during hot summers, commuting by bus and scooter, hand-delivering goods, and staying awake for nights on end to build something valuable.

I remember those days vividly. My father was the billing clerk, accountant, delivery, and production manager—all in one. He didn’t even have computers—everything was done by memory and handwritten ledgers. What he did with sheer determination and faith is what we now call ‘motivation’ today. With that grit, he built an empire of textiles. From six machines, today we operate over 200+ machines, hold prestigious certifications, and are recognized with multiple national and international nominations.

His secret? Never compromise on quality. He always said, “If we do something, we do it right or not at all.” His positive outlook, unwavering integrity, and self-belief carried us through countless ups and downs. The employees and staff loved him—not just as a boss, but as a human being.

As his son, I have learned not just business, but life from him. He is the iron pillar of our family, and Tulip is his legacy of resilience, built with blood, sweat, and an undying sense of purpose.

How I SSAFE Was Born…

May 2023: Our neighbor, Mr. Gupta, decided to renovate his four-story house. He hired a demolition agency for the task. One evening, around 5 PM, loud noises and chaos filled the air. Police and an ambulance were outside. Mr. Gupta called us: “We just got a call from the police. Can you check what’s happening at the site?”

When we reached, the scene was horrifying. A laborer named Jeeva had fallen from the fourth floor. His spine was severely injured. The supervisor was missing. Jeeva lay in agony as police conducted inquiries. Mr. Gupta, though not liable, was shocked. Jeeva was rushed to AIIMS.

Next day, a few safety belts and helmets appeared on site. When I spoke to the supervisor privately, he confessed: “Sir, I’ve been in this field for 14 years. Safety is never followed properly. Most belts are poor in quality—no expiry date, no certifications.”

About 10 days later, I saw Jeeva lying helplessly on the footpath. He couldn’t move. A worker, Amit, told me he was discharged incomplete and given a mere ₹25,000 to settle. “When you recover, come back,” they told him. The doctor said recovery would take 11 months or more. This shook me.

Weeks later, visiting a friend in Noida high-rise society, I witnessed another tragedy. A window cleaner named Vikram fell from the 10th floor. He used safety gear, but something had failed.

After months of inquiry, I met Vikram. He was bedridden, his family was financially destroyed. His kids had dropped school, his sister’s marriage was cancelled. I asked him about the belt. He weakly said, “It wasn’t good.”

I examined the belt. No brand. No expiry. Poor condition. That’s when everything clicked.

I shared these stories with my father. He said, “If you can make a difference, you must. This is your calling.”

With our 34 years of expertise in weaving, we began deep R&D into safety harnesses—understanding every stitch, buckle, yarn, and standard. We built a lab, imported computerized stitching machines, and created prototypes. They passed BIS, CE, and ANSI tests.

As a gesture of goodwill, we distributed our belts to workers in the same society. They loved them. “Comfortable and safe,” they said.

And thus, I SSAFE was born—from threads to lifelines. Not just a brand, but a mission.

Today, we make safety harnesses, lanyards, tripods, winches, and horizontal lifelines. Our aim isn’t to just sell products—it’s to raise the standard of safety.

Our mission: To provide 🌊 comfort and ⚖️ security, ensuring every worker returns 🏡 home safely to their 👨‍👩‍👦 family.

Those two incidents weren’t just tragedies—they were the 🔦 spark that ignited our purpose. I SSAFE was born not just from 🧧 threads, but from the ⛑️ lifelines it now protects.
