ENERGY ABSORBER

An energy absorber in a safety harness is a crucial component of a fall arrest system. During a fall, the energy absorber deploys
typically through tearing seams or controlled webbing unravelling. This absorbs the impact force, signicantly reducing the jolt on the
worker’s body and preventing serious injuries. Regulations mandate that the maximum arresting force on a worker during a fall should
not exceed 6kN (kilonewtons). The energy absorber ensures this limit is met.

Applications:

Energy absorbers are exclusively used in fall arrest lanyards. These lanyards connect your safety harness to a secure anchor point and are vital when working at heights where a fall is a possibility.
Here are some common applications:
● Construction
● Telecommunications (tower climbing)
● Wind turbine maintenance
● Window cleaning
● Fall arrest teams

Knowledge Required for Use:

● Understanding the proper use of fall arrest systems, including anchor point selection, lanyard connection, & fall clearance requirements is crucial.
● Familiarity with relevant safety regulations regarding fall protection equipment and weight capacities is essential.
● Knowing how to inspect your fall arrest lanyard for signs of damage and when to replace it is vital for safety.
● Weight Limits:Energy absorbers are designed and certied for specic weight capacities.Ranging from 50 kg (110lbs) to 190 kg (420 lbs)
● Never use a fall arrest lanyard with a deployed energy absorber. It’s no longer functional and should be replaced.
● Different types of energy absorbers exist (tearing web or internal pack),but their core function remains the same-mitigating fall impact forces.
● Regular training on fall protection systems and safe work practices at heights is highly recommended.
● Special White Inner Webbing made of polyamide
● Clear Protective Covering: This transparent cover allows for easy and quick visual inspection of the energy absorber, ensuring its functionality and identifying any potential damage before use.
● These lanyards are used when there is a fall hazard and they are connected to the sternal or dorsal attachment point on the harness
● Made from 44 mm wide webbing and shrink wrapped for protection, this energy absorber provides long lasting performance.
● It is tested and certified, complied to EN 355:2002 , ISI (PART2) : 2021, and ANSI standards, ensuring it effectively reduces the impact of a fall to less than 6 KN (TESTED FROM SATRA, ISI, AND ANSI) in dynamic test, minimizing the risk of injury to the user.

When using this energy absorber with a 2.0 meter lanyard, you need to maintain a minimum fall clearance distance of 6.0 meters to ensure safety in case of a fall.
